The Health of Middle School Students in France/2014. French Data from the International Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) Survey. Comparisons Between National and International Survey Data
Students in France do not differ significantly from those in the 41 other countries that participated in the 2014 HBSC survey, but they do stand out in a few respects: a particularly small number of them feel that it is easy to communicate with their mother or father, even though they are among those who most often share an evening meal with at least one of their parents; they are among those who most frequently report recurring physical and/or psychological complaints and who have a less positive perception of their lives, without, however, perceiving their health as particularly impaired; they are relatively rarely overweight or obese and rarely diet; they are, however, among those who engage in the least physical activity, especially at ages 13 and 15; they remain at the top of the list regarding lifetime and past-month cannabis use; they are among those who most frequently report having used condoms or birth control pills during their last sexual encounter.
