Key Points

  • Nationwide, in week 26 of 2026 (June 22–28), the number of deaths from all causes reported by INSEE was at least 35% higher than expected for all age groups and for people aged 15–64, 65–84, and 85 and older (unconsolidated data).
  • At the regional level, excess mortality across all age groups was observed in Week 26 of 2026 in all regions of mainland France, with the exception of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Corsica, and Occitanie (unconsolidated data).
  • In S27-2026 (June 29–July 5), at the national level, the number of electronically certified deaths was decreasing across all age groups and in most regions of mainland France.
