Emotional CPS Worksheet: Managing Stress (E2.3)

This fact sheet was prepared by Nadine Fréry and Béatrice Lamboy based on the CPS Volume 2 guidelines published by Santé publique France. It focuses on the second general emotional psychosocial competency (CPS) and provides a summary of a specific emotional psychosocial competency: Managing Stress (E2.3). It consists of the ability to reduce one’s own psychophysical stress reactions in order to avoid becoming destabilized and to be able to draw on all one’s resources to function fully and pursue one’s own goals. In everyday life, this competency requires mastering and knowing how to use various effective stress management techniques. Stress management strategies are generally grouped into two broad categories: - strategies focused on the emotional experience, which aim to address stress reactions; - problem-focused strategies, which aim to address the stressful event(s). This specific skill can be applied during CPS activities. Thus, following a theoretical segment, practical examples are presented for adults, youth, and children.
