The Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) virus was detected in October 2023 in ticks of the species Hyalomma marginatum collected from cattle raised in the Pyrénées-Orientales, and subsequently in the same ticks collected from cattle at slaughterhouses in Corsica. These are the first detections of this virus in France. No human cases have been diagnosed in the country to date.
