User Guide for the National Health Data System for Epidemiological Surveillance and Monitoring

This guide was developed by the SNDS team within the Data Support, Processing, and Analysis Division (Data) at Santé publique France, based on existing materials (press releases or training documents from the SNDS portal, collaborative SNDS documentation from the Health Data Hub, forum Q&As, etc.) and the authors’ practical experience in using the data. It is not exhaustive but is intended as a guide to using DCIR, PMSI, and medical cause of death data on the SNDS portal. Initially intended for Santé publique France users as part of their missions to monitor population health and conduct epidemiological surveillance, this guide is made available to the SNDS user community. This document will be updated regularly to reflect, among other things, changes to the SNDS.
