Emotional and sexual life.
Excerpt from the Health Barometer survey conducted among 4,115 young people aged 12 to 19. 41.6% of boys and 48.7% of girls aged 15 to 19 have a boyfriend or girlfriend; the average duration of a romantic relationship is 4 months among 15-year-olds and 1 year and 3 months among 19-year-olds. More boys report having had sexual intercourse, but the median age at first intercourse is 17 for both girls and boys. 87.1% of sexually active young people say they used a condom the first time; far fewer used one during their most recent sexual encounter. Use of the pill is more common among 19-year-olds, and 9.1% of young people used neither a condom nor the pill during their first sexual encounter (7.2% for their most recent encounter). 13.6% of sexually active young women have used the morning-after pill, and 6.2% have been pregnant, of whom 20% gave birth—representing 0.5% of girls aged 15 to 19.
