The use of psychotropic drugs in France.

Summary of the results of the Health Barometer on usage levels and recent trends in the consumption of psychotropic medications in France. Sixteen million people aged 11 to 75 have taken psychotropic medications in France. The most commonly used are anxiolytics, followed by hypnotics and antidepressants. Managers use them the least, while blue-collar workers and office workers use them the most. The use of psychotropic medications may accompany the treatment of somatic conditions or socio-professional difficulties of all kinds, as well as marital or family breakdowns.
