Train healthcare professionals in practices involving interpreters.

Language barriers are detrimental to patients who do not speak the healthcare provider’s language. Based on this observation, the National Observatory on Mental Health, Vulnerabilities, and Society (Orspere-Samdarra) has trained 124 interpreters and 95 healthcare professionals in interpreting since 2016. The training includes valuable time for dialogue between interpreters and healthcare professionals, with the aim of fostering mutual understanding and reflecting on each other’s strengths and limitations.
