Sustainable Development and Health Promotion: Learn More [Bibliography]
The concept of sustainable development has been extensively discussed in the literature over the past fifteen years, but it was not until 2002—when the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg recognized health as a “priority area”—that writings on this issue began to appear. The specific issue of the link between sustainable development and health promotion, however, remains largely undocumented. We have chosen to organize this “Learn More” section into four categories: foundational texts; official organizations promoting sustainable development; a selection of articles and books devoted to sustainable development and health; and finally, a database of joint actions and programs on sustainable development and health promotion.
