Substandard housing: an underestimated determinant of health.

Housing conditions play a major role in children’s health. The number of families with children who are homeless has increased. Substandard housing often involves multiple risks: unsanitary conditions, overcrowding, disease, delays in academic and psychomotor development, energy poverty, and so on. Experience shows that appropriate policies can quickly reduce the negative impact on children’s health.
