Recognizing the Expertise of People Experiencing Severe Social Exclusion [Interview]
In 2019, the Salvation Army Foundation launched a "peer support" job placement program at an emergency shelter in Paris. People who have experienced homelessness draw on their personal experiences to train for a profession: receptionist, program coordinator, social care worker, etc. The initiative adapts the workplace to the needs of those facing the greatest challenges, while securing the professional future of those who have left life on the streets.
