Narcotics Anonymous, a lay-led program in the field of addictive behaviors focused on recovery, emotional management, and community support

In France, the model for treating substance users is currently dominated by the harm reduction paradigm. Narcotics Anonymous groups offer their members an alternative approach based on abstinence from all behavior-altering substances. These self-help groups promote a lay expertise that draws on the realm of feelings and emotions, presenting drug use as a form of suffering and participation in the group as a form of redemption. This article proposes a dual approach focused both on analyzing interactions within the NA group and on examining relationships with other professional approaches. (Publisher’s presentation)
