Landfilling is currently one of the primary methods of waste management in France. The InVS and AFSSET, in collaboration with several organizations, have conducted a quantitative health risk assessment (QHRA) of waste landfills, taking into account changes in how these facilities are operated. Although the results show that properly managed sites do not pose health risks, the study nevertheless highlights a lack of quantitative data regarding the monitoring of emissions and environmental quality.
