In the Hérault department, a community of municipalities has launched mediation awareness workshops in elementary schools; these workshops, designed for elementary school students, have significantly improved the school climate in these institutions. Volunteer students are given the responsibility of serving as “mediators” for their peers and are trained for this purpose. Ten elementary schools and one middle school are participating in the program, where more than 200 mediation sessions were conducted over the course of the year.
