A tool to help identify domestic violence

The physical and psychological consequences of domestic violence against women in intimate relationships are often overlooked, largely because healthcare professionals find it difficult to broach the subject during consultations. To encourage them to initiate a dialogue on this sensitive topic, the French National Authority for Health (HAS) is now offering them a tool. This tool was developed with input from behavioral sciences, which helped identify the behavioral barriers faced by physicians. Based on this finding, two solutions were tested and scientifically evaluated before one was rolled out nationwide by the HAS, in cooperation with the health insurance system.
