Key Points
In week 39, syndromic indicators were generally decreasing in the community and increasing in hospitals. Among those aged 65 and older, however, an increase was observed for both types of indicators.
Virological indicators were decreasing in the community and stable in hospitals.
The detection of COVID-19 clusters in long-term care facilities increased in weeks 37 and 38.
In terms of wastewater, the increase in SARS-CoV-2 detection continued, but remains below the level seen during the same period last year.
SARS-CoV-2 circulation remains significant; developments will need to be monitored closely over the coming weeks.
Adhering to preventive measures remains an effective way to protect against respiratory infections and their complications and to limit the risk of transmission to others, particularly vulnerable individuals: wearing a mask if symptomatic and regular handwashing are therefore recommended.
The vaccination campaign, targeting in particular people aged 65 and older as well as those at risk of severe illness, will begin on October 15, 2024.
Data from the COVID-19 bulletin will be incorporated into the IRA bulletin starting next week (week 40), at the start of the winter season.
