COVID-19 Prevention
Our prevention efforts through the creation of messages and the provision of tools for everyone
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, Santé publique France’s prevention efforts aim to encourage the public to adopt behaviors that reduce the risk of infection for themselves and others. Throughout the pandemic, a race against time has been underway: rapidly producing tailored prevention messages in a rapidly evolving situation.
As soon as the epidemic alert was issued, Santé publique France deployed the necessary strategy, studies, and prevention tools to inform and support various groups (the general public, vulnerable populations, and those in precarious situations), leveraging all possible channels, including healthcare professionals, associations, and community-based organizations. We have produced and made available documents accessible to all, downloadable in various formats and translated into 24 languages, as well as video and audio spots to inform the public, prevent virus transmission through preventive measures, and protect oneself and others.
The goal is also to help people better cope with the situation throughout the epidemic (during lockdown and reopening), such as by improving their well-being and supporting the required behavioral changes, notably through “My Daily Life” video spots that offer simple advice on grocery shopping, maintaining a healthy home, or exercising at home.

A list of remote assistance services available during the COVID-19 pandemic
Your primary care physician is your first point of contact for any health-related questions. Do not hesitate to consult them, particularly via telemedicine.
In addition, Santé publique France has compiled a list of national remote assistance services that continue their mission to provide information, a listening ear, and support during this health crisis, which is causing anxiety, uncertainty, and isolation.
This list is not intended to be exhaustive. It is a current overview that goes well beyond the services supported by Santé publique France, but all receive public funding. Not all newly created support services could be included in this list, as certain information was missing (specific organization, hours of operation, etc.). The designation “Aide en santé Certified” indicates that the services hold this certification, established in 2014 with the aim of highlighting the quality of service provided to users.
The criteria applied for selecting the services are as follows:
Nationwide service coverage. Regional services are therefore not included
Individualized and personalized assistance and support via telephone or the internet. Chatbot-style responses have therefore been excluded
Organizations receiving public funding, ensuring a minimum level of public oversight of their operations
Calls with no surcharge.

Population surveys to observe behaviors and their evolution
In addition to COVID-19-specific epidemiological indicators, Santé publique France has conducted quantitative and qualitative studies among the population since the start of the lockdown to observe behaviors and their evolution. These surveys, complementing scientific knowledge derived from literature reviews, help develop and reinforce prevention messages for the public. Their results are published on the website and regularly updated.
