Trends in hospital admissions for pertussis between January 1, 1983, and June 30, 1994, in Guadeloupe

Despite limitations inherent in its retrospective nature, this hospital morbidity survey revealed a significant increase in pertussis cases in Guadeloupe beginning in January 1989. The marked increase during the first six months of 1994 may be the result of an action research initiative and supports the implementation of clinical and biological surveillance of the disease in infants as well as in children and adults.
