Bronchiolitis surveillance indicators continue to rise among children under 2 years of age, despite a slight decline linked to the All Saints’ Day school break.
Very high numbers of emergency department visits and hospitalizations for bronchiolitis, exceeding levels observed during epidemic peaks over the past 10 years.
In week 44, hospitalizations for bronchiolitis accounted for 50% of hospitalizations following an emergency department visit among children under two years of age. By comparison, this percentage was approximately 40% during the peaks of previous seasons.
Overall, the epidemic is more severe in the northern half of France
