A father's alcohol use: a risk to the fetus as well

Alcohol consumption during pregnancy—the most concerning psychoactive substance in perinatal care—has serious health consequences for the embryo. In addition to the strong recommendation for abstinence for pregnant women, abstinence is now also recommended for the father prior to conception, as ethanol causes changes in sperm.
