Dengue Surveillance in Martinique. Update as of February 25, 2021

Key Points

Dengue surveillance indicators in the city and in hospitals are at low levels or even similar to the values observed at the start of the epidemic (2019-45). The Technical Committee for Dengue Monitoring, which met on February 12, proposed—with a majority of members in favor—a transition to Phase 5 of the Dengue Response Plan: end of the epidemic, return to normal. This proposed phase change will be submitted for approval to the management team, which is expected to meet shortly. Nevertheless, it is important to remain vigilant and continue implementing preventive measures (elimination of larval breeding sites, personal protection with repellents, use of mosquito nets and electric fly swatters) to ensure a smooth transition out of the epidemic phase.
