Key points

Asthma

  • Increase in monitored indicators affecting children.

Gastroenteritis and acute diarrhea

  • Moderate activity.

ENT conditions

  • Moderate activity related to ENT conditions. In S20, among children under 5, ENT conditions accounted for 14% of emergency room visits and half of SOS Médecins consultations. The virology laboratories at the Rennes and Brest university hospitals detected rhinoviruses/enteroviruses in 10% (6/58) and 6% (26/109) of the samples tested, respectively.

Emergency Department and SOS Médecins Consultation Visits

  • The number of emergency department visits remained stable (-0.5%) and the number of SOS Médecins consultations for all causes increased (+4.8%) during Week 20 compared to Week 19. The volumes of emergency department visits and SOS Médecins consultations (all causes) are similar to observations from previous years during the same period across all age groups and follow the same trends. Nevertheless, there was higher activity than in previous years among those aged 65 and older in hospital emergency departments and at SOS Médecins.
