Reflections on the management of patients suspected of having viral hemorrhagic fever in France.

The management of suspected cases of viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF) requires the same precautions as the management of confirmed cases until the diagnosis is ruled out, provided that this specific approach does not harm the patient. Preparing a hospital with a designated infectious diseases unit requires adapting its organizational structure and procedures for triggering alerts, managing patients and specimens, analyzing them, and coordinating and informing the healthcare team. Each alert has helped the hospital make progress in this regard. (R.A)
