Trends in Tuberculosis in Guadeloupe Between 1982 and 1994

The department of Guadeloupe is experiencing a moderate resurgence of tuberculosis. The incidence rate is low and comparable to that of an industrialized country. Older adults, foreigners, and HIV-positive patients are at higher risk of developing tuberculosis. Thanks to its unique design, the departmental registry established in Guadeloupe many years ago allows for greater sensitivity in case identification compared to surveillance based solely on mandatory reporting.
