SOS Médecins Network Newsletter, July 22, 2026
Key Points
In Week 29 (July 13–19, 2026), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased compared to the previous week across all age groups (+6%, or +5,125 procedures), except among children under 2 years of age. This increase in activity, which was more pronounced among people aged 75 and older (+13%, or +819 procedures), was largely the result of a carryover of activity from Monday, July 13, and Tuesday, July 14, which was a holiday.
The increase in total activity was primarily driven by the rise in procedures:
- All ages, for upper respiratory tract conditions (+10%, or +1,958 procedures) and other ENT conditions (+20%, or +312 procedures),
- All ages, for trauma (+8%, or +330 procedures),
- Among children, for chickenpox (+42%, or +186 procedures), impetigo (+47%, or +195 procedures), skin conditions (+16%, or +70 procedures), and conjunctivitis (+10%, or +125 procedures),
- Among adults aged 15–74, for urinary tract infections (+13%, or +257 procedures) and acute abdominal pain (+14%, or +180 procedures).
Among those aged 75 and older, most of the most common procedures were on the rise, particularly those for deterioration in general health (+31%, or +122 procedures), falls (+21%, or +39 cases), isolated fever (+45%, or +30 cases), and death certificates (+20%, or +63 cases).
Conversely, as the heat wave gradually subsided over the course of the week—first along the western coast and then across the northern half of France—cases involving heatstroke and dehydration decreased across all age groups compared to the previous week (down 20%, or 176 cases, and down 19%, or 59 cases, respectively). The numbers remained higher than in previous years.
