Key Points
- In Week 33 (August 10–16, 2026), the number of emergency department visits and hospitalizations following such visits remained stable across all age groups compared to the previous week.
- Amid a heat wave, there was an increase in visits to levels comparable to previous years for hyperthermia/heatstroke across all age groups (+68%, or +159 visits) and dehydration among adults (+24%, or +218 visits).
- Among other conditions, there was an increase in visits for gastrointestinal symptoms among 2- to 14-year-olds: gastroenteritis (+11%, or +193 visits) and vomiting (+13%, or +100 visits), allergies in children under 2 years old (+16%, or +28 visits) and in adults (+14%, or +282 visits), as well as ENT conditions (+9%, or +366 visits), asthma attacks (+15%, or +114 visits) and conjunctivitis (+15%, or +71 visits) among those aged 15–74.
