Key Points
In week 43 (October 23–29, 2023), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children under 2 years of age (+11%, or +807 visits), decreased among 2- to 14-year-olds (-10%, or -2,172 visits), and remained stable among adults.
Regarding seasonal respiratory indicators, the number of cases of pneumonia continued to rise, more markedly among children (+25%, or +91 cases) than among adults (+9%, or +71 cases), and at levels higher than in previous years. Among children under 2 years of age, cases of bronchiolitis continued to rise (+19%, or +84 cases), though at lower levels than in previous years, and were accompanied by an increase in cases of asthma (+27%, or +27 cases), bronchitis (+14%, or +48 cases), ENT conditions (+15%, or +598 cases), and isolated fever (+24%, or +27 cases). To a lesser extent, these last two indicators were also on the rise among those aged 75 and older (respectively +9% and +24%, or +30 and +17 cases).
Among other indicators, the main increases among adults were in procedures for conjunctivitis (+13%, or +48 procedures), depressive episodes among those aged 45–64 (+49%, or +26 visits), and among those aged 75 and older, visits for trauma and falls (in comparable proportions: +14%, or +43 and +22 visits, respectively).
In the context of the Rugby World Cup, no unusual variations in the monitored indicators were observed in S43.
