Key Points
In week 45 (November 7–13, 2022), with the start of the school year, total activity at SOS Médecins clinics saw a slight increase among 2- to 14-year-olds (+4%, or +809 visits), a decrease among children under 2 (-11%, or -1,045 visits), and remained stable among adults.
Following the school break, bronchiolitis among children under 2 years old decreased (-12%, or -156 cases) but remains at a level significantly higher than that observed in previous years. Among respiratory conditions, there has also been an increase in cases of influenza/flu-like syndrome among children and those aged 15–74 (+31% and +15%, or +146 and +245 cases, respectively) and asthma attacks among those aged 2–14 and those aged 75 and older (+6% and +28%, or +35 and +19 cases, respectively). Procedures for suspected COVID-19 are on the rise again among 2- to 14-year-olds (+22%, or +47 procedures) and are declining among children under 2 and adults (-9%, or -311 procedures).
Among other conditions, there was an increase in digestive symptoms, with a rise in cases of gastroenteritis and acute abdominal pain that was more pronounced in children than in adults (respectively, +31% and +10% for gastroenteritis and +45% and +13% for pain-related symptoms).
Regarding mental health, there was an increase in procedures for depressive states (+26% across all ages) and anxiety (+67% among children, +18% among those aged 15–44), though at lower levels than in previous years.
Finally, there was an increase in medical procedures for general health deterioration among those aged 75 and older (+18%, or +44 procedures).
