SOS Médecins National Newsletter, May 23, 2017
Summary
In week 20 of 2017 (May 15–21), overall activity at SOS Médecins clinics declined across all age groups (-8% across all ages).
However, consultations for most seasonal spring and summer conditions increased over the past week. Of particular note is the rise in consultations: - among children, for asthma attacks (+7%) and allergies (+12.7%) (ages 2–14), as well as for conditions directly related to heat and insect bites (under 2 years and ages 2–14). - among adults, consultations for allergies, conditions directly related to heat, insect bites, and burns. The share of these various seasonal conditions in overall coded activity remains comparable and follows the trend typically observed in the previous two years, with the exception of meningitis and burns among adults (slightly higher than in the previous two years). It should also be noted that the proportion of consultations for conjunctivitis in coded activity has been significantly higher than in the two previous years since February and is observed in most regions.
The main conditions seen in consultations are declining among both children and adults, with the exception of consultations for trauma, which are up 11.4% among people aged 75 and older.
