SOS Médecins National Newsletter, May 15, 2023
Key Points
In Week 19 (May 8–14, 2023), activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children aged 2–14 (+11%, or +1,774 visits) and remained stable or declined in other age groups.
The increase in activity among 2- to 14-year-olds applies to most key indicators and reflects the resumption of school activities across all regions. Consequently, the following increases were observed in this age group:
respiratory conditions: acute bronchitis (+22%, or +85 cases), ENT conditions (+12%, or +823 cases), asthma attacks, also observed among 15- to 74-year-olds (up 28% and 11%, respectively, or 71 and 51 visits), and suspected COVID-19 (+17%)
gastrointestinal conditions: gastroenteritis (+11% or +139 cases), vomiting (+32% or +55 cases), and abdominal pain (+15% or +55 cases), also observed among 15-74-year-olds (+10% or +132 cases).
Among adults, aside from asthma attacks, there was an increase in visits for chickenpox among those aged 15–74 (+10%, or +5 visits), as well as for depressive episodes among those aged 15–64 (+34%, or +61 visits) and anxiety among those aged 45–64 (+12%, or +28 visits).
