Summary

In Week 10 (March 8–14, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among children aged 2–14 (+18.1%, or +2,520) and remained stable among adults (+0.4%) and children under 2 (-2.5%).

In Week 10, after four weeks of decline and one week of stabilization, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups increased, with 2,766 procedures recorded (vs. 2,569 in Week 9; a 7.7% increase), the share of total activity across all age groups nevertheless remained stable at 4.1% (versus 4.0% in Week 9). Analysis by age group shows a significant increase among children (+46%, or +143 cases) and stabilization among adults (+2.3%, or +51 cases).

Suspected COVID-19 is the fourth most common diagnosis among 15- to 74-year-olds. At the regional level, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are on the rise in Pays de la Loire (+52%, or +50 procedures), Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (+33%, or +23 procedures), Brittany (+29%, or +24 procedures), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (+21%, or 51 more cases), Île-de-France (+15%, or 70 more cases), Grand-Est (+13%, or 28 more cases), and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (+6%, or 19 more cases). They are stable or declining in the other regions. Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 190,767 tests for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.

Seasonal respiratory and digestive conditions: there has been an increase in cases of gastroenteritis across all age groups (+12%, or +506 cases) and of ENT conditions (+25%, or +1,448 cases), bronchitis (+17%, or +118 cases), asthma (+39%, or 92 cases), and abdominal pain (+21%, or 78 cases) among 2- to 14-year-olds.

Among the most common conditions, the main increases were in procedures for heart conditions (+12%, or 26 more procedures) and general health deterioration (+9%, or 33 more procedures) among those aged 75 and older.
