Key Points
In Week 28 (July 11–17, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics increased among adults (+8%, or +4,597 procedures) and remained stable among children.
After six consecutive weeks of increases, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are down: a total of 7,685 procedures (vs. 8,535 in Week 27) were recorded across all age groups (a decrease of 10% vs. an increase of 8% in Week 27). However, procedures remain on the rise among those aged 75 and older (+7%, or +51 procedures) and are declining in other age groups: -16% among those under 2 years old, -29% among 2- to 14-year-olds, and -8% among 15- to 74-year-olds. These procedures remain the second most frequent across all age groups. At the regional level, SOS Médecins medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are down in all regions, with the exception of Grand-Est and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, which saw increases (+17% and +10%, or 100 and 79 procedures, respectively), and Occitanie and PACA, which remained stable.
Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 422,004 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.
Most other indicators are on the rise, notably across all age groups for heatstroke (+185%, or +195 cases), dehydration (+142%, or +94 cases), chickenpox (+47%, or +315 cases), insect bites (+31%, or +298 cases), and general malaise (+20%, or +52 cases). Among children under 2 years of age, there was an increase in cases of diarrhea (+77%, or +55 cases) and gastroenteritis (+23%, or +50 cases). Among adults, there was an increase in visits for asthma attacks (+31% or +115 cases), urinary tract infections (+22% or +389 cases), trauma (+13% or +281 cases), and, exclusively among those aged 75 and older, for deaths (the second most frequent category of cases in this age group, +36% or +113 cases), deterioration in general health (+29% or +95 cases), and bronchitis (+29% or +63 cases).
