Summary

  • In Week 2 of 2017, SOS Médecins saw an increase in activity among children under 15 (+20%) and a decrease among adults (-11%).

  • Among children, visits for influenza/flu-like illness and viral syndrome are on the rise, as are those for gastroenteritis (in children under 2 years of age) and for bronchitis and asthma (in children aged 2–14).

  • The increase in the proportion of flu-related activity continues (16.4% across all ages, compared to 15% in Week 1 and 13% in Week 52). This increase is observed primarily among children.

  • Other winter illnesses (bronchitis, pneumonia, upper respiratory tract infections, asthma) are declining among adults, with a proportion of coded activity comparable to that of the previous two years.

  • Consultations for gastroenteritis and vomiting among children and adults have stabilized, at levels comparable to those of the previous two years.

  • A slight increase in consultations for deterioration in general health, falls, and deaths among adults over 75 years of age.
