SOS Médecins National Newsletter, February 15, 2011
The total volume of activity at SOS Médecins clinics has decreased by nearly 7% compared to last week. This decline is primarily observed among children aged 5–14 (-16.2%). This trend is evident across all geographic regions, with the exception of the Central-East and Southeast regions, where activity remained stable over the week.
Across all age groups, calls for flu-like symptoms and clinical flu diagnoses have decreased by 12% and 26%, respectively. This decrease is observed in all regions and affects all age groups. In particular, influenza diagnoses have decreased by 32% among children aged 5 to 14 and by 45% among people aged 75 and older.
Calls for "bronchiolitis and respiratory conditions in infants" among children under 2 years of age, which have been stable for the past two weeks, have decreased slightly (-9%) over the past week, with the exception of the Centre/Île-de-France and Nord regions, where activity remains comparable to previous weeks. These calls account for 40% of SOS Médecins’ activity for this age group.
The "gastroenteritis" indicator also saw a slight decrease of 6% over the past week, particularly among children under 15 years of age.
After a moderate increase in the number of deaths certified by SOS Médecins associations observed in early February, the numbers have stabilized over the past week.
