Summary

In Week 04 (January 25–31, 2021), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics remained moderately higher (compared to the previous three weeks) among children (+4%, or +985 visits) and stable among adults.

In Week 04, medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 across all age groups rose again, with 2,936 procedures recorded (vs. 2,793 in Week 03) and a share of 4.4% of total activity across all age groups (vs. 4.3% in Week 03). This increase is moderate (+5%, or +143 cases) and follows two weeks of stability at a high level. It is driven by the 15–74 age group (+8%, or +161 cases). In other age groups, the number of procedures is stable among children under 2 and slightly down among those aged 2–14 and those aged 75 and older. Suspected COVID-19 is the fifth most common diagnosis among children and the fourth among adults. Medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 are stable or on the rise, with moderate numbers, in several regions. The largest increases are observed in Centre-Val-de-Loire (+72%, or +49 procedures) and in Grand-Est (+15%, or +32 procedures). Since the start of surveillance, 173,962 procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.

Seasonal conditions are stable or declining. However, increases are observed for acute bronchitis (+15%, or +317 cases) and ENT conditions (+11%, or +1,807 cases) across all age groups, as well as for asthma (+10%, or +37 cases) and conjunctivitis (+10%, or +27 cases) among children. Also noteworthy is the moderate increase in procedures for vomiting among those aged 75 and older (+41%, or +24 procedures).
