Key Points

In Week 15 (April 11–17, 2022), total activity at SOS Médecins clinics decreased among 2- to 14-year-olds (-17%, or 3,365 fewer visits), increased among those aged 75 and older (+13%, or 575 more visits), and remained stable in other age groups.

Cases involving suspected COVID-19 decreased across all age groups for the second consecutive week. In total, 1,654 cases (vs. 1,985 cases in Week 14) were recorded across all age groups (a decrease of 17% vs. 8% in Week 14). The decline is observed among those aged 2–14 (-33%, or -161 cases), those aged 15–74 (-13%, or -169 cases), and those aged 75 and older (-7%, or -7 cases), while a stabilization is observed among those aged 0–2.

Suspected COVID-19 has dropped to 9th place among children aged 2–14 and to 8th place among those aged 15–74 in the ranking of the most common conditions. At the regional level, there was a sharp increase in cases in Brittany (+86%, or +36 cases) and moderate increases in the Grand-Est region (+12%, or +10 cases) and in Corsica (+8%, or 13 cases); the other regions saw a decline.

Since monitoring began on March 3, 2020, 340,243 medical procedures for suspected COVID-19 have been performed.

Among other indicators, there has been a decline in procedures for influenza/influenza-like illness, which nevertheless remain at a high level for the season. Most seasonal winter indicators are declining (except for pneumonia, +17% among children), while there is an early increase in spring indicators (among children, an increase in cases for allergies (+39%, or +121 cases), chickenpox (+24%, or +109 cases), and conjunctivitis (+19%, or +92 cases)).

Among adults, there was an increase in procedures for urinary tract infections (+15%, or +162 procedures) and isolated fever (+16%, or +27 procedures) across all ages, trauma among those aged 15–74 (+11%, or +114 cases), and low back pain/sciatica (+29%, or +45 cases) and heart failure (+17%, or +21 cases) among those aged 75 and older.
