Key Points
In Week 38 (September 15–21, 2025), the number of emergency department visits and hospitalizations remained stable across all age groups, with the exception of children under 2 years of age, who saw an increase (+9%, or +1,766 visits).
Visits for respiratory conditions continued to rise for:
- ENT conditions: among those under 15, the increase continued at a slower pace than the previous week, with a rise of +22% (equivalent to +1,618 visits). A more moderate increase of +6% (equivalent to +188 visits) was also observed among those aged 15–74.
Asthma attacks: Among children under 2, the increase is less pronounced than the previous week, with an 18% rise (110 additional visits). Among those aged 15–74, visits are up for the second consecutive week (17% rise, or 212 additional visits).
Suspected COVID-19 infection: The trend continues among adults, with a 37% increase (375 more visits). Among children, we are seeing the first week of decline.
Bronchiolitis: Visits continue to rise, though at a slower rate than the previous week among children under 2 years of age, with a 36% increase (233 more visits).
Cough: Visits are rising sharply among children under 2 years of age (+32%, or +69 visits).
Among other conditions, there was an increase in visits:
All ages for general malaise, except for children under 2 years old (+8%, or +962 visits), with figures higher than those observed in previous years, as well as for insect bites (+19%, or +137 visits). In smaller patient groups, there was also an increase in visits for chickenpox (+64%, or +45 visits), mainly among 2- to 14-year-olds (+38 visits).
Among children, there was an increase in conjunctivitis among those under 2 years old (+36%, or +31 visits) and trauma among those aged 2–14 (+6%, or +1,375 visits).
Among those aged 75 and older, there was an increase in cases of cardiac decompensation (+10%, or +121 visits), vomiting (+7%, or +25 visits), and trauma (+6%, or +770 visits).
