Key Points

In Week 43 (October 20–26, 2025), the first week of the All Saints’ Day school break, the number of emergency department visits and hospitalizations following those visits remained stable among adults and decreased among children aged 2–14 (by 28% and 14%, respectively). Among children under 2 years of age, the number of visits was stable, and the number of hospitalizations increased (+8%, or +264 hospitalizations).

Compared to the previous week, most respiratory indicators were on the rise among children under 2 and adults aged 75 and older.
Among children, there was an increase in visits for:

  • influenza/flu-like illness (+37%, or +81 visits);

  • pneumonia, more markedly among children under 2 years of age (+35%, or +58 visits) than among those aged 2–14 years (+6%, or +18 visits);

  • cough (+19%, or +86 visits) and asthma among children under 2 years of age (+6%, or +47 visits);

  • bronchiolitis in children under 1 year of age (+20%, or +245 visits).

Among adults aged 75 and older, there was an increase in visits for pneumonia (+6%, or +133 visits), ENT disorders (22%, or +32 visits), and cough (+18%, or +27 visits).

Among those aged 75 and older, there was also an increase in visits for cardiac decompensation (+12%, or +169 visits), dyspnea/respiratory failure (+10%, or +196 visits), and abdominal conditions (+6%, or +139 visits).
