Key Points
In week 16 of 2022, with the exception of a slight increase in visits for suicidal behavior among those aged 45–64, mental health indicators in emergency departments are declining, reaching levels similar to or lower than those of previous years.
Within the SOS Médecins network, with moderate patient volumes, procedures for anxiety and depressive states are on the rise among those aged 45 and older and those aged 15–64, respectively. The observed levels remain comparable to or lower than those of previous years.
Data on emergency department visits from the OSCOUR® network:
Among children, visits for suicidal acts, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders are declining. The observed levels are comparable to previous years.
Among adults (aged 15 and older), visits for suicidal acts (with the exception of a slight increase among those aged 45–64 (+7%, or +23 visits)), anxiety disorders, and mood disorders are declining. The observed levels are comparable to previous years.
Data on medical interventions from SOS Médecins associations: The analysis presented below is based solely on data from the 40 associations that have reported as of today (representing ~74% of the data typically received).
Among children, procedures for anxiety, depressive states, and behavioral disorders are fluctuating within the ranges observed since the beginning of the year and at levels comparable to those of previous years.
Among adults (ages 15 and older), procedures for anxiety are on the rise among those aged 45–64 (+49%, or +66 procedures) and those aged 65 and older (+35%, or 46 procedures) but remain at levels lower than those of previous years. In smaller sample sizes, procedures for depressive disorders are up among those aged 15–44 (+18%, or +18 procedures) and those aged 45–64 (+69%, or +22 procedures). The levels observed for these indicators remain comparable to or even lower than those of previous years.
