Health Surveillance of Mortality. Weekly Update, January 20, 2015.

Summary

During the first two weeks of 2015, a significant increase in mortality was observed in civil registry offices (Figures 1 and 2). The rise in mortality was noted primarily among people aged 85 and older (Figure 3).The increase over these two weeks was observed in nearly all metropolitan regions, with the exception of Corsica, Auvergne, and Limousin. Electronically certified deaths also stabilized at 738 deaths in week 3 (January 12–18) following an increase noted during the first two weeks of 2015 (Figure 4).
