Key Points
Nationally, based on INSEE data, the number of deaths from all causes rose again in weeks 04 and 05, before beginning a slight decline in week 06. The numbers remain significantly higher than expected in week 06. The number of electronically certified deaths is declining in week 07, for the second consecutive week.
Older adults are primarily affected by this excess, but figures appear to be starting to decline in week 06, both among those aged 65–84 and those over 85.
An excess of deaths was observed in 11 metropolitan areas in Week 04, 10 areas in Week 05, and 6 areas in Week 06 (unconsolidated week).
