Report of the InVS/Afsse Task Force on Poison Control Centers and Pharmacovigilance Centers. Proposals for the Organization of Pharmacovigilance. September 2003
Decrees No. 96-833 of September 17, 1996 (on the missions and resources of Poison Control Centers) and No. 99-841 of September 28, 1999 (on the organization of toxicovigilance) failed to take into account the changes to the institutional landscape of public health brought about, respectively, by the Act of July 1, 1998 (creation of the Afssaps, the Afssa, and the Institute for Health Surveillance) and by the Act of May 9, 2001 (creation of the Afsse), the Directorate General of Health asked the Afsse and the InVS to take a position regarding this system, which plays an essential role in the prevention of poisonings. Before responding to this question, which also required consultation with Afssaps and Afssa, Afsse and InVS decided to conduct an assessment of the organization and operating procedures of the Poison Control Centers and Toxicovigilance Centers (CAP-CTV).
