Health in Action, June 2019, No. 448 Preventing Sexual Violence: What Can Be Done?

In France, 800,000 people are victims of sexual violence each year. This issue of *La Santé en action* brings together some twenty experts and presents an overview of current knowledge and practices regarding methods for preventing sexual violence. Violence is a major determinant of health; numerous studies have highlighted close links between the experience of sexual violence and subsequent physical, mental, and sexual health problems. This special report focuses in particular on evidence-based interventions—as identified in the scientific literature—to prevent sexual violence, as well as recommendations from experts gathered during a public hearing.
