A necessary dialogue to address children's mental health

The National Study on Children’s Well-being (Enabee), launched by Santé publique France in 2021, aims to assess the mental health of children aged 3 to 11 by giving them a voice, which is what makes it unique. To ensure its smooth implementation, a consultation process was established between 2021 and 2023, involving various stakeholders (healthcare professionals, teachers, parents, national education unions, etc.). Unusual in epidemiology, this dialogue was thus established between the project team and stakeholders, which helped alleviate concerns about the sensitive—even taboo—topic of children’s mental health and facilitated the study’s implementation.
