Key Points

• Since January 1, 2019, 780 cases of measles have been reported (compared to 1,994 cases during the same period in 2018), including 241 (31%) hospitalizations (11 in intensive care), 59 cases (7.6%) complicated by pneumonia, 2 cases of encephalitis, including 1 death (subacute encephalitis in an immunocompromised individual).

• 90% of cases occurred in unvaccinated or inadequately vaccinated individuals (out of a total of 596 cases, aged over one year and born since 1980, for whom vaccination status was known).

• 73 departments reported at least 1 case during the period.
