Measles Outbreak in France. Epidemiological Bulletin as of March 27, 2019

Key Points

  • Since January 1, 2019, 489 cases of measles have been reported (compared to 1,332 cases during the same period in 2018), including 148 (30%) hospitalizations (8 in intensive care), 42 (9%) cases complicated by pneumonia, and 1 death (encephalitis).

  • 91% of cases occurred in unvaccinated or inadequately vaccinated individuals.

  • 62 departments reported at least 1 case during the period.
