Heat Wave and Health in Corsica. Bulletin of July 9, 2025.
Key Points
From June 28, 2025, to July 2, 2025, and in the context of a heat wave, Météo-France issued an orange alert for the department of Haute-Corse (covering 52.5% of the regional resident population) and a yellow alert for the department of Corse-du-Sud (covering 47.5% of the regional resident population). From July 3, 2025, to July 7, 2025, Météo-France recommended placing both departments on the island under an orange alert. On July 8, 2025, Corse-du-Sud was placed under a green alert, and Haute-Corse under a yellow alert.
Analysis of regional emergency care utilization during the episode indicates:
An increase in the number of SOS Médecins medical procedures across all causes and all ages,
Stable activity for all causes (all ages and those aged 75 and older) in hospital emergency departments,
Very low activity for the iCanicule1 indicator at SOS Médecins across all ages, and stable activity for this indicator in hospital emergency departments (all ages and those aged 75 and older), though slightly higher than during the reference period.
