Key Points

Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika

  • Since the last bulletin, two new outbreaks of locally transmitted chikungunya have been identified in Fréjus and Toulon in the Var department (one case in each municipality). In total, 17 locally transmitted cases of chikungunya have already been identified in the region in 2025, 13 of which are linked to the outbreak in Salon-de-Provence in the Bouches-du-Rhône department.

  • Since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1), 145 imported cases (+10 since the last update) have been identified in the region: 70 cases of dengue, 74 of chikungunya, and 1 case of Zika.

Heat Wave

  • No heat wave is currently underway. The Var department is under a YELLOW alert on July 15 and 16 due to a temporary heat wave.

  • Emergency service activity has decreased compared to the previous week and is approaching seasonal averages.
