Key Points

Dengue, Chikungunya, and Zika

  • As of September 10, no new episodes of local transmission have been detected on the island compared to last week, nor have any new local cases been identified within previously identified episodes. The total stands at 3 episodes of local chikungunya transmission and 18 cases in Corsica.

  • In mainland France, 49 episodes of local vector-borne transmission have been identified: 38 episodes of chikungunya (+4 compared to last week) and 11 episodes of dengue (+1 compared to last week).

  • Furthermore, since the start of enhanced surveillance (May 1), 3 imported cases of dengue and 3 imported cases of chikungunya have been confirmed in Corsica (no new cases compared to last week).

High temperatures, heat wave

  • No heatwave is currently underway or expected in Corsica in the coming days.

  • Activity related to heat-related illnesses is low and now below the levels observed in previous years.

Asthma at the start of the school year

  • Monitoring of asthma cases among children via analysis of OSCOUR® and SOS Médecins indicators has been in place since Week 34. In Corsica during Week 36, the week of the start of the school year, asthma activity at SOS Médecins and in emergency departments among those under 15 remained low and generally on par with levels observed in previous years.
