Key Points

COVID-19

  • Viral circulation has been declining for the sixth consecutive week.

  • All other monitored indicators are either declining or stable.

Extreme heat, heat wave

  • No heat wave warranting a heat wave alert is expected in the coming days.

  • In week 34, emergency department activity for conditions potentially related to heat remains stable. Activity reported by SOS Médecins remains low.

Monkeypox

  • As of 08/29/22, 222 confirmed cases among residents of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region have been recorded.

Chikungunya, dengue, Zika

  • 9 imported cases of dengue in the region: 3 from Cuba, 1 from Costa Rica, 1 from Brazil, 1 from Thailand, 1 from Réunion, 1 from Indonesia, and 1 from Côte d’Ivoire.

  • Two cases of locally acquired dengue have been identified:

    • 6 cases reported in the town of Fayence (Var);

    • 5 cases in the municipality of Saint-Jeannet (Alpes-Maritimes).

These two outbreaks are not linked (the circulating dengue serotypes are different).
